I have been collecting beads for over 12 years now. Most of them I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with them, I just knew I had to have them. Some of my favourite beads were tiny beads and charms that I could use in my embroidery. But there were always those large ones that I couldn't resist.

About 10 years ago, my husband Dean and I were in Sydney and I found this great little bead shop in the Rocks. I fell in love with the jewellery and bought wire and beads to make myself something but had no idea how to. There was no-one in our area doing beading, so classes weren't available.

Then a couple of years ago, we got our first bead shop. The girl behind the counter explained how to make the necklace I was admiring and so I went home and made it. I suddenly had an outlet for all those large beads I'd been hoarding. Beading has now taken over my life. Dean figured this out when at our last garage sale I put out a lot of my other craft items to make more room for my beads.

Even our two sons accept Mum's addiction. Our eldest regularly tells me to go to 'work' when his brother is sleeping, and pushes me into my work room..

And so KQ Designs was born from my hobby. I hope you enjoy my jewellery as much as I enjoy making it.
